Benna Trachtenberg

she/they

We are collaborators with the shared goal of helping you to live the life you want to live. Benna (she/they) is able to help you traverse challenging circumstances, and provide a compassionate listening ear as you navigate life’s many twists and turns.

Her approach to therapy is relational, meaning that trust and connection between her and each client is the most important factor in a productive and ongoing therapeutic relationship. Additionally, Benna is deeply involved in Vermont’s theatre scene, and believes that creative expression and art play a significant role in healing. In addition to a focus on building a trusting therapeutic relationship, Benna individualizes treatment by drawing on elements of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), social therapy, exposure response prevention (ERP), among other treatments, to meet the needs of each individual client.

Benna is a student in her final year of UVM’s masters of social work program (MSW). Last year, her internship was with Riverflow Community, where she worked with adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and honed skills and passions surrounding advocacy and working with neurodiverse individuals.

She particularly enjoys working with LGBTQ+ and neurodiverse folks, and aiming to co-create a space where you can explore the complexities of these identities. Benna is also dedicated to helping adolescents (14+), young adults, and college students through the challenges of the vast change and transformation you undergo in those formative years.

Through exploring the connections between your thoughts, emotions, and lived experiences, we can work together to help you live your best life authentically.
